HigHER Self CEO: OGSM
Building Your Strategic Plan
By now, you’ve clarified your identity, strengths, priorities, and how to execute like a CEO.
You know who you are, what matters most, and how to take action efficiently.
But now it’s time to connect your vision to measurable outcomes. That’s where OGSM comes in. No, this is not a typo for something else… although if done right, an OGSM can be sexy.
OGSM stands for:
- Objective: Your big-picture vision. Your “CEO mission” for your life. Your purpose.
- Goals: Specific, time-bound outcomes that bring your objective to life.
- Strategies: The high-level approaches you’ll use to achieve your goals.
- Measures: The metrics and checkpoints to track progress and ensure accountability.
This framework bridges identity and action, making your dream life tangible and measurable.
Define Your Objective: Your North Star
The objective is your ultimate purpose or aspiration. It’s the reason you show up every day and why your upgraded identity exists.
Examples:
- “I am a confident, radiant coach helping millennial women transform their self-worth.”
- “I am financially and geographically free, living intentionally and in alignment with my values.”
The objective should be ambitious, inspiring, and identity-aligned.
Set Your Goals: Concrete Milestones
Next, go back to the previous exercises and set your goals. These should be SMART:
- Specific: Targeting a particular area for improvement
- Measurable: Quantifiable (or at least suggesting some kind of indicator for progress)
- Achievable: Realistic and can be accomplished. It should be challenging but not impossible.
- Relevant: Aligned with broader objectives or projects.
- Time-bound: There is a clear start and end date, or a defined timeframe for accomplishment.
Goals break your objective into achievable outcomes. Use them to clarify what success looks like in measurable terms.
Examples:
- Launch my signature coaching program by Q2.
- Publish 12 blog articles this year.
- Build a consistent workout routine 3 times per week and lose 5kg sustainably in 5 months.
Goals that are SMART yet challenging, connect your identity to results.
Develop Your Strategies: Your Roadmap
Strategies are high-level approaches you’ll use to achieve your goals. They are not tasks. They are guiding principles for decision-making.
Examples:
- Use social media to build audience and authority.
- Invest in personal growth and coaching skills.
- Prioritize energy management and routine alignment with hormones and chronotype.
Strategies keep you on track without micromanaging, ensuring every action is intentional.
Define Measures: Track Progress
Measures are how you know if you’re succeeding. They give clarity and accountability.
Examples:
- Number of new clients per month.
- Weekly content output (blog, newsletter, social media).
- Consistency with habits like workouts, journaling, and mindfulness.
Without measures, your strategies are only wishful thinking. With them, you have a CEO dashboard for your life.

- SWOT showed you who you are and where you stand. It helped you to understand your internal and external reality, your strengths, blind spots, resources, and vulnerabilities
- Porter’s Diamond rooted you in your ecosystem, reminding you that ambitions don’t exist in a vacuum: your skills, support network, environment, and role models all shape your development.
- MoSCoW clarified what actually matters.
- Opportunity Costs sharpened your decisions showing you that a yes also always has a no.
- The Pareto Principle pointed you toward your highest-impact actions.
- And the 4Ds showed you what to do with actions that are not immediately for you.
With all these pieces in place, OGSM becomes the framework that organises your clarity into a practical roadmap, turning insight into execution.
